lyrics

I said, really, no one ever told me.
I was told nothing.
No one ever told me.
If it was written in the stars, baby,
I never reached out to read what they had to say.
No one ever told me.

Ain’t nothing that’s truth.
It’s just word of mouth.
It’s so hard to make the reasons play.
Got a feeling, of what’s going on.
Sense that you’ve been away too long,
Oh, too long.

I was fooled, by the light.
I was fooled, by enticing lights.
I was really just waiting for the sun,
To give me some direction today.
I was just waiting for some real sun,
To give me look at today.

Ain’t nothing that’s truth.
It’s just word of mouth.
It’s so hard to make the reasons play.
Got a feeling, of what’s going on.
Sense that you’ve been away too long,
Oh, too long.

In the window, the diamond’s been sold.
But what you got matches, everything (glittering) gold.
Oh, we can take a short cut.
We can take a short cut.
Oh, we can take a short cut.

Ain’t nothing that’s truth.
It’s just word of mouth.
It’s so hard to make the reasons play.
Got a feeling, of what’s going on.
Sense that you’ve been away too long,
Oh, too long.
